An original DeAngelis Woodcraft design you won’t find anywhere else.
Made from high-grade, domestically-sourced walnut. Though I often imagine how striking this design would look in mahogany or spalted maple.
To achieve the distinctive side profile, I collaborated with a local sawyer to create a custom CNC template. Each piece is carefully jointed and glued, then the aforementioned template is used to subtractively route its unique shape. Once shaped, every edge receives a 3/8" round-over, producing the smooth, half-circle contours that define the overarching "no-sharp-edges" design.
With solid hardwood shelves, special consideration for natural wood movement must be taken. A hidden recessed cut-out is made which allows for seasonal expansion and contraction.
To ensure a flawless finish, every surface is sanded and finished before assembly, eliminating visible scratches and maintaining a consistent sheen throughout. Each rounded edge is sanded entirely by hand, then treated with two coats of Rubio Monocoat in Walnut color, resulting in a soft satin finish that highlights the grain’s natural beauty (without a glossy film).
Finally, adjustable solid brass feet complete the refined look of this handcrafted piece.
